Who can get a credit card in Singapore
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) sets the floor; banks can ask for more.
The MAS minimum
- Aged 55 and under: annual income of at least S$30,000, or net personal assets above S$2 million, or net financial assets above S$1 million.
- Over 55: annual income of at least S$15,000, or net personal assets above S$750,000, or a guarantor earning at least S$30,000.
- Credit limit: with income from S$30,000 to under S$120,000, the limit is up to four months' income across unsecured credit.
Foreigners
MAS sets no separate rule for foreigners. Banks set their own, usually S$40,000 to S$60,000, and Standard Chartered asks for S$90,000 and an Employment Pass. HSBC currently asks new customers for S$65,000. Each card page on card.sg shows the bank's stated requirement.
